Training and passing on skills is key to TMJ’s success. We share a single vision and combined values which are embodied within our organisation.
We are very enthusiastic about apprenticeships and provide a thorough training programme for all apprentices, in addition to training schemes for all our employees. Our apprentices have proven to be the foundation of our evolving Management Team and we are excited to be joining the National Apprentice Service in celebrating the 10th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week (NAW).
We currently have six apprentices at TMJ studying Bench Joinery; they are sent on block release to The Building Crafts College in Stratford, London, who specialise in crafts skills. TMJ have a strong and trusted partnership with the college, educating the students to the highest level.
When back in the workshop, each apprentice is partnered with a mentor that was once an apprentice themselves. Working on live projects, the mentors pass on not only skill, but knowledge and experience, training the apprentices to the high standards that are expected at TMJ. All of our apprentices benefit from individual career progression plans, tailored to their individual requirements and business needs.
James Taylor, owner and Managing Director of TMJ Interiors was once an apprentice himself and is a big advocate of Apprenticeship Schemes. It is this commitment and passion that has encouraged TMJ to actively promote and fully support our apprentices through their training. In line with this, we are incredibly proud of our staff retention with some of our existing team having worked with us for over 35 years starting in 1981 as apprentices when TMJ was founded.
TMJ are actively recruiting for apprentices and work experience placements for 2017 / 2018, for more information and how to apply please visit the Work With Us page on our website.
