On Friday 26th April, we attended a Workers Memorial Day gathering with Canary Wharf Contractors to pay our respects to those who have been killed in construction.
Representatives from an array of contractors gathered at the Building Worker Statue, a recognised symbol of those who have passed away in construction related accidents.
International Workers Memorial Day, which is this Sunday, aims to raise awareness for health and safety in all working environments, ensuring the prevention of further fatal incidents occurring by working towards a safer workplace. This issue is relevant particularly in construction as official figures show that a total of 30 men and women lost their life in construction related injuries in 2018.
We are always keen to support any initiatives which help to improve and develop the construction industry.
