This year TMJ entered one team of eight riders, with Laura Warren representing TMJ’s females! This was our fourth consecutive year taking part in the Cyclothon UK, which was held at Brands Hatch on Thursday 7th September. The day began with a bright and early start of 6.30am for a cyclist briefing, with the race starting at 7.30am! We had some new additions to our team this year Mark Hazel and Kevin Partridge who stepped up to the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed their day, albeit endured a few aches and pains on the way.
The weather was kind to us in the morning with the sun shining, although come the afternoon the wind and rain picked up. Steve Bell unfortunately felt the brunt of this and came back to the pits soaked! The miserable weather certainly tested our riders endurance, even our experienced Daniel Batiste, Mike Klingsick and Andy King who have all been part of the team from our first year taking part.
TMJ Interiors came 11th out of 23, we completed in total 86 laps, the fasted lap being completed by Jason Batiste with a 00:06:47 lap. The team completed a distance of 209.238 miles. Throughout the day we were competing against Walter Lilly’s Team 2 and we were neck and neck with them most of the day! The final lap put our rider Jason’s stamina to the test and we narrowly piped Walter Lilly to the post and took 11th place with Walter Lilly Team 2 coming 12th! It was great to have some close competition throughout the day- a big well done to Walter Lilly Team 2 and their Team 1 coming 2nd overall!
The day was enjoyed by all riders, with money being raised for some great charities. Congratulations to all participants!
