The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) founded in 1953, is a science-based, charitable body that provides information, expertise and guidance in the recognition, control and management of workplace health risks.
There are over 1800 members in 57 countries. BOHS is the only occupational hygiene organisation to be awarded a Royal Charter: this was granted in April 2013 in recognition of BOHS’ unique and pre-eminent role as the leading authority in occupational disease prevention.
Breathe Freely is BOHS’ initiative which aims to reduce the incidence of occupational lung disease in the construction industry. BOHS is working on this in partnership with HSE, Mace, Land Securities and Constructing Better Health.
TMJ are advocates for safe working practices and are always on the lookout for new initiatives to partake in. We currently have an occupational nurse that visits and carry’s out health checks on all employees. For those who are required to wear face masks, they are ‘Face Fitted’ to the individual and tested to make sure that the fit exactly, to prevent any leeks.
