Bloomberg European HQ, The Vortex

This prestigious project was the largest freestanding structure that TMJ have manufactured, constructed from Glulam beams and clad with 5621 bespoke American Red ¼ cut Oak panels, with over half a million screws used and weighed in excess of 160 tonnes. This timber lobby ‘Vortex’ was designed as a literal and metaphorical “twist” on the classic timber-panelled lobbies that define many of London’s buildings. The project spanned over 1000 days, from concept through to installation.

Red Oak panelling, physical attack doors, acoustic wall panelling, insulation, stainless steel C-Trim, structural steel for balustrade, Glulam structure, art work surround. The time-lapse video below demonstrates concept images through to installation.
