On Thursday 9th November we attended a careers convention at East Bergholt High School. The convention was attended by both students and parents of other local high schools in the area, a great opportunity for us to meet the stars of the future.
TMJ currently employ 9 apprentices across our Workshop, Accounting and Health and Safety departments, our apprentices have proven to be the foundation of our evolving Management Team and an essential part of our growth strategy; forming our “Grow Your Own” policy.
We are advocates of these type of events, as we are able to encourage students and demonstrate that the construction industry holds a wealth of varied careers. Construction is not ‘a boys’ world’– more than 16% of our workforce are female! Many females we met last night, had never thought about a career in the construction industry; a challenge for us to change that mindset. The evening gave us the chance to discuss the qualifications required and the training schemes available at TMJ. We actively encourage all employees to partake in training schemes, as we take the upmost pride in developing our employees to become the very best versions of themselves both professionally and personally.
We look forward to the next careers event.
