TMJ are BIM compliant, with the ability to produce 3D BIM models to the required LOD using Autodesk products, AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, Inventor and Solidworks.
We have a very healthy understanding of BIM and what is required from us as a joinery contractor. We have a dedicated team that have all received BIM training and a BIM Coordination Manager will be allocated to all BIM projects.
Our team of Financial Managers work closely with the client team at tender stage assisting with preliminary budget advice, alternative specification recommendations through to value engineering. At the estimating stage, clients project requirements along with procurement and production time scales for any specialist items are assessed.
Once secured, our team will work closely with the client commercial team ensuring the project is running to budget.
The Design Development Team develop the design concept making it a reality, using AutoCAD in a multi-screen environment and increasingly utilising 3D technology. We have a collective experience derived from backgrounds in architectural metal work, general interior construction, specialist joinery and cabinetry.

Over £600k has been recently reinvested into the CNC Department, with two 5 axis CNC Machines with in excess of 50 different tools on both carousel and chain systems and two 3 axis CNC Machines.
A laser edge banding machine is linked via Parametrics design development software, which aids total coordination between construction details through to manufacture schedules, and is an essential tool for BIM projects.
The ACCURA 1556 edge bander with two cutter units allows the processing of solid wood edging with thickness up to 15mm. Including grooving which serves for fully automatic grooving in the vertical and horizontal direction. The groove position and depth can fully adjusted on two NC servo-axes. This highly flexible machine allows any adaptation to work to our specific requirements. It also offers waterproof invisible joints, Glu jet automatic and adaptive packages for intelligent automation, integrated multifunction cutting technology and intuitive operation with touch screen.
TMJ’s equipment enhances and optimises our manufacturing capabilities, we are big advocates of reinvestment within our workshop and machinery.
Our in-house Veneer Department enjoys successful relationships with several of the largest veneer suppliers in the UK and Europe. The team is able to offer bespoke advice regarding which veneers are readily available and suitable for each individual project. The team aim to source veneers from a sustainable source with a chain of custody rating such as FSC, PEFC or Forest Products.
In 2017, TMJ invested over £1 million into our new 8,500 sq. ft. Finishing Department, not only increasing our capacity and flow, but also stream lining our processes and doubling our spraying capacity. We use the latest water based lacquer and paint technology and have team of 8 Spray Technicians who have all been trained at the London School of Furniture. Features of the new facility include:
- Four environmentally controlled spray booths
- Two drying rooms heated with recycled air
- Mezzanine floor to carry out high quality works such as high gloss finishes/ burnishing
- Customised extraction system to minimise dust pollution
- Bespoke distiller recycling waste paint into a solution to wash our spray guns
- Environmentally controlled outdoor storage unit offering a safe storage solution away from the main building
TMJ have a FORS Gold rating. All of our deliveries are made by TMJ vehicles utilising the latest Euro6 diesel engines, reducing our emissions by 80%. In addition, all deliveries are scheduled for multiple drops, collections and despatch.
Co-ordination with other trades is key and the TMJ Delivery team have developed a bespoke matrix to ensure smooth delivery with interfacing trades. All TMJ site installations are carried out by a full time team of Project Managers, Foremen, skilled Tradesmen and Installers.
We have developed two divisions to ensure and guarantee total commitment to quality and project delivery; CORE headed up by Projects Director Peter Harkin and PROJECTS headed up by Projects Director Martin Holmes. Our CORE division will meet the needs of all Commercial projects whilst the PROJECTS division focuses on our Specialist and Residential projects.
TMJ Interiors’ 400m² environmentally controlled warehouse enables us to store manufactured goods in a secure and eco-friendly manner on specialist racking. The facility helps TMJ manage the ‘just in time’ delivery process that we have become accustom to, integrated scales ensure adequate loads for our fleet of lorries. Power saving initiatives including, motion detecting lighting and renewable energy sources have been incorporated within the warehouse.
Our QuESH department is responsible for the Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety requirements of TMJ and our stakeholders.
Quality is fundamental to our success and is what we benchmark ourselves against. We have a team of Quality Champions ensuring quality both prior and post installation ensuring the benchmark is met.
We are fully committed to meeting the environmental needs of any project. We have vast experience working on SKA, LEED and BREEAM projects, assisting our clients to reach their environmental goals and targets.
Health & Safety both on site and at our workshop is paramount to TMJ and something we take very seriously. We have an in-house team of three ensuring total commitment to this element of our work.

G A Training Centre
Our G A Training Centre is a fully functional centre that will be used for both in-house and external training, including our one day training courses offering both a practical and theoretical insight into joinery and how we take an idea from conception to reality.
The centre offers facilities for up to 24 seated trainees, including conference call and presentation capabilities. It also incorporates various environmental and sustainable initiatives in line with our ethos to protect the environment, including motion detecting lighting and solar panels.
TMJ is a big advocate for reinvestment and improving the TMJ working environment for all employees; the training centre is an adaptable and collaborative space for our team and customers.
